Updated schedule for the rest of the week.

Due to the typhoon, the schedule has been changed for the rest of the week. I think it will be good for parents to have an idea what is lying ahead of us:

After last night’s concert, we arrived back at the hotel shortly after midnight. We all had breakfast, and will be enjoying another Taiwanese shopping experience today. We plan to visit the electronics market today, and later tonight the famous Night market. So today will be a tourist experience, with no music or rehearsals.

Thursday 31 July:

We will have a rehearsal in the morning in preparation for the evening’s performance at Taoyuan, about 40 minutes by bus on the outskirts of Taipei. This concert will be in the same format as last nights – two choirs sharing the stage, each performing 20 minutes in each half.

Friday 1 August:

We have a demonstration lecture at 9:00 where 350 conductors will experience the joy of African music. At 12:00 there will a luncheon with the representative of South Africa. This will be followed by a visit at 14:00 to the National Museu, where after we will leave for the sound check in preparation for tonight’s concert at Parc del Sol. This will be shorter concert of 20 minutes, shared by other choirs. Today will be a very busy day!

Saturday 2 August

Morning rehearsal at the concert Hall, followed by a sound check with organ in the afternoon in preparation for the final concert performance, which is already sold out. We will perform the San Gloria with organ, follwed by some African music. The second half will be a performance of Handel’s Israel in Egypt. This is followed by a farewell party at the Sheraton.

Sunday 3 August

We will depart at 5:45 for the airport to depart to Hong Kong. Mail on the plane, followed by visit to Disney World.

Taiwanese Shopping - what a chore! Why do I get the feeling that the electronics market is going to attract a lot of our son's cash? Enjoy your day off you all deserve it. I do believe that Saturday night's performance is going to leave the locals with awesome African memories.
Bryan - home is so quiet without you, even Eddie and Milo are mopping around the place. We really are missing you my boy but are also so chuffed you are having such an awesome experience. Keep working hard and enjoy!

Many thanks for your update, Dr O. We REALLY REALLY enjoy every snippet of news that comes our way. And we go mad for pictures too!!! By the way, I see that a distinct path has been trudged to my computer & that was certainly not evident before the tour!
It sounds as though our choir is garnering many many fans & that their performances won't easily be forgotten. Congrats on the excellence you have achieved in Taiwan thus far. We are incredibly proud of your kudos.
In an hour or two, you'll be making your way to the Night Market. Surely, lots of FUN awaits you! We wish you all a happy happy time as you make your purchases. (No doubt, the suitcases are going to groan!)
The demonstration lecture on Friday is going to be an experience in a million & we wish you well as 'you do your thing'. What an amazing opportunity to showcase our continent. Mr J, you are going to be more popular than Justin Timberlake! Please don't let fame go to your head though, 'cos we want you back - we found you first!!!!
As for Saturday, well, there are no more superlatives left to describe what THAT day is going to be like. Maybe, like a true Souf Effrican, I should just say: "It's gonna be a verry lekker day"!!
Please continue to post news throughout the week. And, why so quiet form the boys' side? Come on guys, YOUR'E suppose to be the Cyberspace junkies - get blogging real soon, please.
Glad to hear that all are musically & physically fit & full of the joys of living. Our thoughts & prayers go with you 'wherever'.
